Once upon a time

"Once upon a time, in a kingdom far away."

"You're not doing right," the kids whinged, "do the voices!"

"Once upon a time..."

"You did that bit already!" they interrupted yet again.

I rolled my eyes. Why she had thought this would be a good idea—

"There was a little girl," I whispered, "and a HUUUUUGGGEEE dragon!!!"

Startled faces ducked under blankets as I let out my dragon's roar. The kids started to cry.

A bit too much? Perfect!

My wife's chuckle came from behind me. "You don't get out of it that easily, you know. Practice makes perfect luv!"
