The state of the world; where do we go from here? |
I imagined I could fly above the earth watching the planet revolve below me. I saw men fighting men grasping, clamoring, coveting more. I saw innocent children loving each other, but they didn't understand the burdens awaiting in their future. I soared over a jungle of superstructures. The wealthy looking down from their penthouse palaces never hearing the forgotten sighs of the homeless huddled in their shadows. I saw a woman crying as she emptied her tattered wallet to pay for medications she knew would never buy more time for her tired, battered body. I hovered over deep green forests A turquoise river flowed freely until it reached the massive dam its freedom caught in a swirling eddy. Those with power clamor for more while the fragile fly no longer falling into the murky, silent depths unnoticed, unheard. Wings broken. Hope gone. *** |
