The loss of my mother

I count the tears that I have shed
for all the words left unsaid.
I was wrong and now you're gone.
How will I learn to live on?
You promised that you would never leave.
You said you would always stay.
It wasn't me who closed my eyes and gently slipped away.
You left me just my memories and sorrow.
I won't see you tomorrow.
Death has taken you away and broken the promise that you made.
How can it be that you will never see
another sunny day?
