This poem is about forgiving someone who hurt me.
You’ve written.
You’ve called.
But only after months
Of silence.
Months of thinking
That I’d been
Forgotten.
You’ve done this before
Many times since
We parted.
But this was different.
Different because of the
Defeat in your voice
And the sincere apology
That came from your lips.
I forgave you,
For the first time.
For the first time I felt
A weight lift off
My shoulders.
A weight that kept my
Confidence at bay.
Now I’m relieved.
Now I’m free.
Thank you.

And I still love you.
