This blog keeps me in touch with WDC. Jamesdillingham.com keeps me in touch elsewhere.
I like to stay in touch with WDC, even when I'm not contributing on a daily basis. My main blog is at jamesdillingham.blogspot.com

I wrote a Flash Fiction story today that made me cry. I am always amazed when that happens.

I am back from a week of off-roading with my jeep. We had two jeeps and a camper. To see where we went GoogleEarth: Treasure City, Nevada.

This was an absolute blast. We would spend all day on ancient trails, trying to see what the limits of a jeep are. Our location had several ghost towns and there were mines all over the place; many probably only seen by a handful of people each year.

Best camping vacation ever!

Cheers,

J

I have submitted my Flash Fiction for the night and now lay here in my bed watching Bullwinkle. I love that show.

No writing for a week, at least. Go to Google Earth and find Eureka, Nevada. I will be about 30 miles southeast of there in my jeep.

Time to play.

The good: There has been a lot of excellent competition on the Daily Flash Fiction Challenge. Because of this, I lose quite often but... I end up writing better stories than if I am the only one in the game.

The bad: I had to drop out of Octobersun's 14-7-1 contest since I will be out of internet range for the last 2-3 prompts.

The ugly: I am heading off on an off-road trip in Nevada. My business partner and I both have Jeep Wranglers and they are a blast once you get off of the pavement. We are heading just east of Austin, Nevada. There are ghost towns all over the state and we are going to check some out. Anyway, I have stopped shaving in order to achieve the right "outdoorsman" look. I look like I have mange.

Holiday Inn Express...I am feeling really, really smart!

Pittsburg...feels a little rundown. I love Pennsylvania, great sports teams. Lot's of green. The big cities feel old.

I just wrote my 175th entry for the Daily Flash Fiction. Not bad for 15 months o WDC.

I am putting together a webpage so I can let the world have access to my mind ... alas, what a huge ego I must have. As I work on the page, I notice that it is turning into a small commercial for WDC. I think that is just fine.

The 14 days, 7 prompts, 1 story contest is just about to start. This one takes a lot of work. I don't know how Octobersun can do it. I think she has 28 entries. That's a lot of judging. Just making sure all of the entries are in on time would be too much for me.

I wrote a line today that I never could have imagined. "After all, a guy that could fit that many Twinkies in his mouth could get any girl he wanted." Where did that come from? I think it's really funny.

Cheers,

Jim

My son, Matt is 16 and is getting ready for Sophomore English. He got a D last year. His reading and writing are really poor so I have him reading ahead for next year. As far as writing, I have him signed up on WDC. He is mattd16. He will be entering the Daily Flash Fiction Challenge a couple of times a week. Hopefully he will find that he likes it. As we all know, reviews with positive feedback will be very helpful.

thanks

I am heading to Hungary for a couple of weeks to see the wife. I am taking my 16 year old son with me. He has never been there. He knows my wife (we have been together for years) but he has just never gone over there. The first week we will be on a bicycle tour along the Danube in Austria. I will not have my computer so no writing.

I just posted chapter 10 of my book. I hope to post chapter 11 on this Monday before I leave. I am really cooking on the book now. The writing needs some editing but he story is right where I want it.

Tomorrow, Sunday, I need to finish a story I am writing for a new contest call The Story Spinner. I also want to enter a Flash Fiction story. I miss it if I go too many days without writing one of those.

My son is going to sign up on WDC. I want him to enter some Flash Fiction contests in an effort to improve his writing. I know that mine has gotten a lot better since I started, thanks to the helpful critiques of my fellow writers.

Cheers,

Jim

I have really been doing a lot of writing these last few weeks. I love it. I didn't place in the Short Shots contest with my story ESCAPE, but I have to admit, I loved the story written by the winner.

I have been entering the Daily Flash Fiction Challenge about every other day. I love writing those things.

My novel AWARE is coming along. I had 10 chapters but decided to go back over them to make some course corrections to the plot line. I ended up completely rewriting chapters 6-8 and I am now on chapter 9. I may finish it tonight. That is about a chapter every 2 days for the last week. I really feel like the book is starting to be what I want it to be.

For fun, I posted a collection of short stories from my Flash Fiction archives. I have nearly 170 flash fiction stories. I put 25 of them together, along with the prompts. I also added a 2,000 word story as a bonus. I think it is for sale for about $2 or something. Turns out there is no cost to post it and Amazon gets 2/3 of all income. So far I have sold one copy. If you want to see what it looks like search for "Nano Flash Fiction" my name is James Dillingham.

Cheers,

Jim
