It's fun fact day at 30DBC. Pick one. I picked.
1925 - Mrs. Nellie Taylor Ross was sworn in as the governor of Wyoming She was the first female governor in the U.S.

If California and New York were so great they would have been first, but it turns out Wyoming is the great equalizer for women's rights. Yea, Wyoming. Not much has changed over time. JMO. And I'm from Minnesota, and we are just cold. Some may think we have evened things out for women's rights, but that's another form of manure that stinks as bad as the real stuff.

"If I ruled the world, I'd __________..."

If I ruled the world, I’d channel my inner George Washington and delegate, delegate, and delegate some more. The world is much too large and diverse for one voice. The world is much too large to please everyone so Yes, WWJD would be the backbone of all choices. So I would put like-minded people in positions of authority and present a united front. Hopefully, most of the things that are important to me will be in play through this unity.
I doubt in a world this large and diverse that there will be 100% agreement on anything, so I’d shoot for 75% agreement on major things and 20% agreement on controversial things. If not agreement, at least a measure of respect for the person and what she is trying to do and give the plan a chance.
As the late great Bishop Sheen would say, Good night and God love you.

Prompt: What do you think are three things we're going to be hearing about a lot more as 2018 rolls on?

I am not going to pull any punches or be politically correct because that's not who I am. You can stop reading now, no harm no foul. And you should if you have not taken your blood pressure meds yet.

I like Donald Trump. I think he is keeping promises and getting things done. I think the boo-hooers will find fault with every single thing he does no matter how much they wanted it, no matter if it was introduced into congress long ago by their party ... Instead of delighting in the economic upswing and the good things coming about, there are still people who will find fault in the good of all things.

I think that the race card will be thrown more no matter how silly it is. Most people I know are color blind. But there are more people of color who can only see color and you can thank the former President for that sorry state of affairs.

I think you will be hearing more about global climatic changes. Instead of reading the Book of Revelation and knowing what is going on, people will grab onto catch phrases like global warming and the hoax that it is.

And bonus prediction: If the NFL does not get their p's and q's lined up and get control of their players, they will be out of business within three years.

Again, JMO. You don't need to agree or disagree, just watch and see for yourself.

Tell us what annoys you most about yourself.

I suffer from CRS. Anyone can say anything about me or give me credit for all sorts of horrendous things and I have to take their word because I really don't remember. Now, if it is big enough to make an earth shattering impact, I will remember. If you repeat it 7 times, there is a 50/50 chance I will remember. Why is this happening? I don't have a thyroid, which, as you know is the body's regulator. So I suffer this embarrassing condition and believe me it is embarrassing.
I'm pretty sure I will remember what I forgot in the middle of the night when I should be sleeping and it won't matter anyway. More times than I can count I have to send myself emails or make lists. My favorite excuse for begging out of stuff is: Remind me because when I remember, I am not in a position to act, and when I am in a position to act, I don't remember. Surprisingly, most people don't really care, they have a willing body and don't really mind reminding me all the time.
I used to have a mind like a steel trap. I could spit it back word for word. Now, phht, nothing.
That's all.

Prompt: I’ll never forget 2017 because….
And I’m looking forward to 2018 because…

I finally placed in the 2017 Game of Thrones contest and we earned enough GP that I could actually pay for my upgraded WdC membership with GP and not dip into my financial resources. That was cool because in order to do it, I had to dig deep and finally figured out show don't tell.
In 2018 I am looking forward to my business taking off like a rocket. The foundation is laid and all glitches are cleaned up.

Tell us about a New Years' Resolution you're glad you didn't stick to.

Mine always involved diet and exercise and lasted three days. If that was the tone I set, it's no wonder the year was filled with the guilts.

I think this year I will start the year off enjoying who I am and what I bring to the world and not change anything. Giving up beating myself up trying to be more, better, different, does not serve a purpose. At least not a useful one. So I will look back at 2017,not with regret or things to change, but with joy in my heart that I touched, moved and inspired some people; ticked off others; confused many; and made a whole bunch laugh or smile.

Should I be concerned about the level of phantom stuff happening around me? Not sure. Here is one more example of the stuff that happened to me recently.

So the urgent care nurse called me back, I told her my symptoms and she said, sounds like pneumonia, go to the ER. Tonight. So I went. After 3 hours of testing, My lungs are clear, the EKG is normal, the flu test is negative, and I still have the symptoms. Dear Medical Profession: This is what "It's all in your head" looks like, feels like, and no one trusts you to pull a cat out of a paper bag. I would go back to my homeopath, but Dear God, why did my favorite homeopath retire? Now what will become of me? I am reduced to the three year old falling down to the knees and wailing "WHY CAN'T I HAVE WHAT I WANT?"

Matt solved the case of the phantom keys. I had started to clip my keys to my purse thinking if I can find that, I would always have my keys. This morning, they were nowhere to be found. Everyone and everything came to a halt to puzzle through where the keys were and to suggest where to look. Having had enough, Matt heaved a sigh and dug his thick little fingers into the side pocket and got them. Tom is laughing, Matt is smirking, and I am abashed.

I kicked off my vacation to the Grand Canyon by stopping off at the EconoLodge. Avoid this hotel chain.
The one in Jackson, MN is a testament to high priced slum hotels.
We specifically asked for a handicapped accessible room, not a fake handicap accessible room. If you are a hotel chain, it is not a handicap room if you cannot get the chair in through the door, and no bench seat in the tub. Handrails and no locks does not a precious bathroom experience make for the handicapped.
And if you own a hotel, make sure the toilet actually works. The one we had ran all night.
If you want to avoid a trip to the hospital, make sure you sniff the eggs at the EconoLodge. The ones at our hotel had been there for a very long time because they had already turned yellow. I was kind and did leave a note for the next unsuspecting person.
The only decent thing about this chain was they had soft pillows. Big whoop.
Then to top it off, I found out they charged me $30 more than the amount quoted on the phone. When I asked for an adjustment, I was told no.
I have a big mouth. If I have my way, no more people will get burned at this chain.
That's all.
Sign me one more disgruntled EconoLodge victim.

So I just got done with the Game of Thrones. If you have a mind to, take a look at my entries for this year's game by going to my port and checking out the GoT writings. I placed in some rounds and won two head to head challenges. That is something new for me. This is the first year I placed. It's a big deal because the talent in the competition is superior. And if you want some things to make you giggle or shake your head, the things marked FinalCut are all impromptu writing exercises. If it takes more than 10 minutes for poems or 15 minutes for a story, something's wrong. If it looks like fun to you, go to Blog City and join our team for next year. Lots of fun and crazy writing that pushes your creativity to the max. "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise link should take you to Blog City where you can join a wonderful community of writers.
