Prompt: Writing Prompts

Is it easier for you to answer a writing prompt than come up with something on your own? And do you think writing prompts are helpful to you, and if you do, which kinds of writing prompts do you look for?


Well it depends. Sometimes my best ideas come from my dreams at night. I even have dreamed about writing stories. Then I wake up with outlines I have to get down quickly before they fade.

Sometimes great stories have come from prompts. They stir around in my head with characters I have already established. New characters are born and situations I have never thought of using all blend together.
