The need to cry, God knows

Looking back will often bring
the hurting out again,
as all alone we must relive
the places we have been.

Tears will come that can't be helped
from somewhere deep inside
and for a moment they will bare
what we thought we could hide.
-
That which had so satisfied
no longer has control
and what we thought could never be
now overwhelmes the soul.
-
God in all His loveliness
has taken simple tears
and washed away that part of us
we've held onto for years.

Looking back will often bring
the hurting out again,
but we are now assured He knows
the places we have been.
