My Entry For the Shadowed Contest

I Met A Purple Elephant

I met a purple elephant
living in the zoo.
He asked me where I came from
my answer; Timbuktu.

I asked him what his age was
an he told me he was two.
Then he begged me for a favor
"Help me find my shoe?"

So I went looking all over
I found it with the kangaroo.
And when I gave it back to him
he politely said, "Thank you."

I noticed he was eating
What's your favorite food?
He looked at me real funny
said, "who me? Oyster stew!"

I thought elephants liked peanuts
so I threw him a few.
He yelled, "no wait don't,
they give me the flu!"

I'm so sorry dear elephant
I wish I would have knew.
Well he started sneezing
and stepped on a screw!

I must be going now
I bid you a fine adieu
I've got to get to the library
my books are overdue.

I saw the look on his face
he was looking real blue.
Then he yelled out to me
"Hey, can I come with you?"

So I opened up the gate
and we headed to Kalamazoo.
That's where the library is
do you wanna come too?

We reached our destination
He said, "wow what a view!"
I showed him all the books inside
Boy the time really flew.

Well it's getting late out
It's time to get back to the zoo.
My parents are probably worried
and don't know what to do.

I'll come back for visits
believe me, this is true.
Good-bye my new friend
I'll be back to see you soon!
