Holding back, protecting the heart.



Why am I holding back?
Can I trust myself?

Am I scared of getting hurt?

I have known you forever,
My safety net
You let me down and I fell to the ground.

I am holding back,
I am not giving you my all.

I am keeping safe
I do not want to fall.

A place I protect
A very dark secret.
It is not living dangerously
It is protecting my heart.

I am holding back.

Unsure of what steps to take
I have to protect myself.

How long can I live this way?
