Time To Let Go

You ignored my letters

set me aside from others,

to where only you and I knew the truth

but what was it after all?

I know that I hurt you

but two wrongs don't make a right,

on the inside you said you loved me

on the outside I was less than a friend.



One night I found comfort in another,

someone who didn't pretend

I knew it was a mistake,

but needed to feel wanted

it's not like we were together

which, of course, is no excuse,

I apologize over and over

but honestly have you ever?



No one knows the hurt I've felt

cause no one knows about you and I,

so who was I to turn to

when we would go awry?

I'm not sure what you need me to do

and I've run out of things to say,

no more excuses will I give

for the fact that I wronged you.



So instead I open the cage

and finally let you go.
