Matters Of The Heart

Another free verse emotional poem from the heart

Sitting here feeling foolish,

worthless and nonexistent

which is just what I am.

I took what was a good thing

and ended it abruptly tonight

'and for what?' I ask myself

one night of feeling wanted?

When all along you were there.

It pains me to know I hurt you

and know you'll never view me the same.

I took from you something special

one thing that can not be regained.



In all honesty, you've hurt me as well

harsh words and critisism are just as painful

when they're meant for the one you love.

As well as the feeling of ineptness,

shame and guilt you have made me feel

when I wasn't able to understand your motives

or help you in your times of despair.

Fighting somewhat brought us closer

but it also tore us apart.

Opinions of what and how love should be

can be a persons' own worst enemy

when it comes to matters of the heart.
