A short poem about God, prayers, and whether they are ever answered |
| "What if there was a God?" What if there was a God, and he answered all of your prayers? Would that be like a revelation, a miracle, or would we even notice? A deluge of entreatments to this man, woman or thing inundate the skies Day to day, hour to hour and second to second Are they heard and forgotten, or heard and answered? I ask myself because of the amount of times I have myself added to the flood Avoiding the waves and never getting wet, Yet never acknowledging that coincidence may be too easy a way out Protect this one for me, oh God, his safety matters more than most I speak as a form of prayer, never acknowledging the miracle, never seeing the magic As he comes home safe again, still alive A coincidence is granted once again A coincidence not to ignore but to cherish For maybe when we lose track of the coincidences that palliate our lives When the become to great in number to count We may have discovered the true nature of the one we call God |
