The tires screeched as the jerk pulled away from the pavement. Her shoe followed and she screeched, something unintelligible. She limped over to the side of the road and sat on a stump. Her last few hours were a blur of shouting, tears and angsty recriminations. How did he find out? How could he possibly know? Did Renata tell him? Her mother? Her sister? It was too much to process, so, she just watched the heels of clouds as they passed her by. The floor showed indentations where the table had been. It had only moved a foot or so but the indentations made it feel as though it had gone out of state. Nadir was still reeling from the earlier part of her day, but decided there was only one way of moving on; putting one foot in front of the other. She looked up into the depths of the stairwell. Then climbed. "What kind of person would do a thing like that?" Bill must have repeated it a dozen times. Nadir sighed and kept her toes pointed in the direction she wanted most to go. To a space that Bill would, evidently, never understand. One step, another step-- BANG! The tripwire is activated and she is blown sky high. She had them all over her house, some created little pops or spills from overhead. This one wasn't one of those. Her family hadn't visited in years, and apparently would not be by anytime soon.
