As I drive the slow goods train
The dark clouds burst and it starts to rain
Then the sun comes out and the rain disappears
Like the smile on my face has to hide my tears.
Run through the station as quick as I can
I spot a young couple and I think of Anne
The look of affection as they gently kiss
Is a loving emotion that I sadly miss.
Into the tunnel then I cannot see
Just as reason was blinded by my jealousy
She gave me her love, but I listened to lies
Anne walked away with tears in her eyes.
My journey has ended, the loco’s on shed
The train’s in the siding, I’m lying in bed
I’ve pleaded with her to forgive me one day
I know I’ve been foolish, I drove her away.
