This Month's Editor: Wordsmitty ✍️
Hello fellow writers and bloggers. I hope the rampaging "Game of Thrones" battles haven't exhausted you. Blogging always seems to be a safe haven, at least mostly.
Although the allotment of words this month has been mostly taken by those houses vying for supremacy, there's still been some very good blog entries, a few of which are listed below. Also, new blogs and restarts continue to swell the blogging ranks. Do check all these out and leave them a comment or a "Like."
This month the Feature has to do with "Blogging from the Heart," expressing those feelings that are the real you. Take a moment to think about that idea even if you don't read it. You may find that something to consider as you write.
Also, don't forget about the WDC Seventh Birthday starting September 1. It would be great to see some amazing blogs about what you've been doing for the past seventeen years and what you think will happen in the next seventeen.
Well, time to duck out of the way of those lances and reviews that are flying around. Good thing it's only once a year.
Keep on Bloggin'!
Blogging from the Heart
by Wordsmitty ✍️
"Put your heart into it." How many times have you heard that or similar? You must dedicate yourself to success. Well, that 'heart' is true, but the real heart is putting yourself into something or, more precisely, letting your real feelings come out in what you do.
Blogging is a personal expression more than your average story, at least, those fictional ones. Why? Because your blog isn't planned and made up but comes from how and what you think and feel. It needs to be real and not faked, unless your blog is just stories or data, of course.
First journals and diaries were put out on the Internet as a web log, something you want to track electronically instead of on paper. Journals and diaries often contained descriptions not of just events but of the person's emotions about what was described. It was a release to get those out, to vent, even if only to release the stress those were causing and never be shown to anyone.
Essays and opinions on topics are another major content of blogs. Some may be driven by just logic, but most come from a personal viewpoint based on ones bias or dedication. It's controlled emotional expression, perhaps.
Consider the blogs that you read. Why do you enjoy certain ones over others? Is it the topic, the author, the phrasing? Or is it the emotion that the words convey showing a deeper side of the author or pulling you in to their viewpoint?
Some things are easy to let the feelings out especially if you're relaxed or the emotion is consuming you. When you're venting while hot on an item, you're going to write that way. If you wait and let the heat of the situation cool, you're going to write more of a descriptive summary. This is all because your mind and emotions are always connected. It's why authors put themselves into a scene to describe it effectively.
Extemporaneous writing must be driven by something, and most blogs are written extemporaneous . They aren't well planned and outlined scenes edited to show the right mood or the perfect style. The mood comes out as you write because you feel it right there and write it.
If you feel something from the heart and write it as you feel it, your writing is bound to show it, and readers are going to sense it and feel it and understand it and, hopefully, enjoy it more. At least, that's how I feel.
Blogs may be restricted to Upgraded Authors and higher. These entries may have a lower content rating than the overall blog.
