This was my submission for Write4Fun's contest last year. Now its in a book. So yay me.
He stared across the landscape, a sea of metal stared back.
He looked for the green but all he saw was silver and black.
He looked for the animals, the people, the things full of life,
Instead he saw things half-machine, made of fury and strife.
He was sad now, to see how everything was so bleak
And others, the media, said we were nearing the peak.
War and religion, now one and the same,
Though claim to be different, play the same game
With peoples lives, in hope of entertainment
And yet, those in power keep other s in containment.
It is a time of fear, of hate and mistrust
And yet, having the latest tech is an absolute must.
Things need to go back, to change now with haste
To make things better, to stop living in waste,
To make strong the weak, to make good the mean,
To push back the black and bring back the green.
