There's nothing new to write about
There’s nothing new to write about
Nothing new to say
Everything I think of
Has long seen the light of day
Just try to write a melody
That no one else has sung
You’ll find that it’s impossible
Every lyric has been done
I try to be creative
I tell my mind to think
You can lead a horse to water
But you cannot make him drink

There I go
I’ve done it again
I’ve stolen someone else’s lines
From someone else’s pen

Our senses have been filled
With images and rhyme
We’re merely just collecting
The flotsam of our time
Again and yet again
There’s no original thought
We’re victims of our culture
It’s just the way we’re taught
So I will leave you only
This weak and feeble pun
There’s nothing that is fresh or new
Beneath the midnight sun

There I go
I’ve done it again
I’ve stolen someone else lines
From someone else’s pen
