The family gathered to celebrate John’s fiftieth birthday at the water park on a day when the temperature reached 40 degrees in the non-existent shade.

John’s three adult children all had a hand in making the special birthday cake—tasty, but with a slightly suspicious tinge of green.

Soon it became clear John had eaten more than his recommended share of green chocolate cake and as the day progressed became increasingly incoherent. When the park needed to close, an ambulance was called to take him to hospital.

John’s fiftieth birthday is embedded in the annals of the family history.
