| Life is Good “Where are you going?” “I’m not going anywhere.” “Why do you have your coat?” “I was going to hang it in the closet.” “Why?” “Because that’s where your coat is supposed to go when you’re not wearing it.” “Why were you wearing it? Did you go out this morning?” “No, I left it on the sofa when I got in last night. I was talking to your mom, and she was in the kitchen, so I dropped it on the sofa and went into the kitchen.” “Why were you so late?” “I forgot I left it on the sofa.” “No getting home from work…” “Oh, I thought Mom told you. I had to work late because something was due Monday morning. We were almost done so we stayed and finished them.” “Who’s we?” “Alex. Remember you met him at that lunch place?” “Oh yeah, I forgot his name was Alex.” “You only just met him once, that happens to me too sometimes when I meet somebody new.” “Did you ever forget my name?” “Never.” “Even when I was new?” “Yes, even then. Mom and I actually named you before you were born. We were trying to find the most special name for you, and we did! Do you like your name?” “Kind of… I would like it more if it was Jafferstand.” “Ah… I never heard that name before…” “Jafferstand’s a giant bird, with sharp teeth and he can fly way up in the sky! Do peoples ever fly?” “Only in airplanes or helicopters. How do you know Jafferstand?” “On TV. It’s going to be on today, after lunch Mom says. Want to watch him with me?” “Sure!” Off he ran. Mom walked in, snickering. “You listen to that every day?” “He’s a talker!” They both laughed. Life is good. |
