Poem where a loyal friend confronts sorrow, stagnation, and promises enduring support. |
| Dear friend, I truly had hoped, The struggle of waiting you coped. To stand there and count every day, For someone to walk in and stay. To change all the things in your heart, And give you a brand-new fresh start. To leave that old past far behind, The man that you were now declined. The darkness and shadows would flee, If only the light you would see. You waste every moment of time, Still stuck in this lonely design. You long to be felt and be heard, You act like a powerful word, But I can still clearly feel near, The pain that your heart holds so dear. You smile in the day for your kin, But grieve when the evenings begin. I see through the parts that you play, It was I who taught you that way. You live with those feelings of dread, The regrets that live in your head. You hide all the pain that is real, Though you should know how you should feel. For nothing was done that was wrong, You stood up and simply were strong. You spoke what your heart held inside, Where no one else bravely has tried. You shattered the walls with the truth, That held you back since your youth. Be brave now and stronger you'll be, In testing days now you stand free. You'll never be quite like before, But always you're going to be more. No fake and no liar you'll grow, Through lonely days, the seeds you now sow. It hurts me so much now to see, You've changed to this shadow of glee. I’m breaking the promise I made, My place by your side will not fade. I’ll stay with you thus you can know, The truth that I speak will now flow. I’ll stand by your side every hour, To give you the strength and the power. But sweet friend, remember your plea, The promises spoken to me. The truth is the truth, it remains, Don't live with these self-imposed chains. Now simply stand tall and move on. written on 27-01-2016 revised on 16-09-2025 |
