A brief comparison between my service in Vietnam and the situation I see in Iraq. |
| I served my Country I served my Country for 30 years and now it seems for not The values that we soldiers held, they have now all forgot Service to our Country was our call We served to ensure that freedom was available all I served my Country for 30 years with honor and integrity Our values withstood the test of time to last into eternity Today our leaders turn away as witnessed at ‘Gitmo Bay’ We no longer fight for truth, justice and the American way. I served my Country for 30 years, my soldiers I remember Their failures were mine alone, for as their leader I must be responsible for their acts, so if they are the ones to flounder It is I who must atone. As their leader failure rests with me. I served my Country for 30 years, believing in democracy Now I read reports that highlights our leaders hypocrisy Our nation’s leaders must come forth; tell us all the truth If we fail its not we who’ve lost, the losers are our youth. |
