Getting over things is dramatic. Especially when they just leave a note.

Prompt for 12/26 ▶︎

I poured myself some wine as I read the note once more.

"Rachel, I feel as if I'm suffocating. I can't have you sucking up all my free time. If I keep giving in to your demands for date nights, romantic evenings and wanting a family, I'll get fired. This is goodbye; Ryan."

As I read the line about "sucking up" his time, I didn't cry. I felt the blood light my face with crimson rage. Fine! If he didn't want to commit, then fine! It's not like I hadn't sacrificed to make that broken relationship cruise.

Goodbye, you bastard; I thought as I poured the rest my wine over his selfish note. There was a delayed yet satisfying whoosh as the alcohol accelerated the paper's demise.
