Welcome to my blog: I intend to share heartfelt writing about anything that comes to mind. |
PROMPT September 18th Take us through a day in your life at your job/career. Talk about some of the more important responsibilities you have as well as what your major tasks entail. It’s always interesting to see how others work Well, since not all of us have physical paying jobs, that's a tough one to answer for me. Sometimes my days vary greatly from one to the next. They depend on what absolutely needs to be done and how much energy I have. Some days, I have absolutely no energy and it is a struggle to just get out of bed especially when pain is also a factor. I have to take care of my dog and roommate. I will take the dog out when I wake up after I go to the restroom. Then I get my roommate set up with her tablet, phone, and drink. I make sure she doesn't need anything. I give her a pill for acid reflux. Then I go to my room and take my thyroid medicine. We both have to wait to eat breakfast at least 30 minutes after we swallow our pills. While we wait, we usually do stuff on our tablets. She will find something to watch. I typically get on here or check Facebook. Then I fix me and my roommate breakfast. After breakfast, we both have more medicine we have to take. So I take and distribute medicine. This is where it can vary. Depending on the time or the days obligations and on how we feel, we may lay back down for awhile. I may do housework if I am feeling up to it or I may write in my blog.. We usually have lunch around noon. Then I walk the elderly neighbor’s dog and my dog. If I feel up to it I may do some more errands around the house, and if not I will rest in front of my fan until I do. This is usually the time frame for completing things around the house. By around 4, we are usually starting to get hungry again. I will typically do dishes, then I fix dinner. We will eat dinner usually by 6 or 7. I will typically give evening meds around 7:30 or 8. Then I walk our dog and the neighbor’s again and sometimes the neighbor too. I keep teasing her about getting her a leash too. She laughs because she knows I am joking. After this, I usually write and try to wind down. Then I have my Bible reading/ prayer time and then it is usually bedtime. Sometimes, I have errands to run away from home in the afternoons. Most of the time I have to force myself to do a lot because I hurt and I just don't have any energy. Some days, I do good to do the bare minimum. I also assist my roommate getting dressed and with bathing/personal hygiene. |
Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Do I allow myself to be taught through God’s word how to overcome pain, weakness and challenges? Answer: Yes, yes, and yes. The Bible has some of the best advice and solutions possible. It is wisdom. It is God's Word. God's Word helps me cope with life. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ What's your favorite activity in either the fall or spring depending on where you are? PROMPT September 17th Do you procrastinate? We all do to one extent or another. What doubts or excuses could you let go of to help you become more consistent and minimize procrastination? Procrastinate? Who me? Lol Yes, we all do it at one time or another. I was bad about doing it in school. I did a lot of last minute assignments and studying for tests. Fortunately, I was intelligent enough to get a passing grade. However, I could have definitely done better. I have learned from these past experiences too. I could tell of how I would procrastinate to clean my room or do dishes. When I was a child, I wanted to play. I didn't want to clean. Wow! I was normal. Lol Oh yeah, I tried the shove everything in the closet and under the bed technique. Yeah, I ended up having to clean the closet and under the bed too while mom stood over me with a paddle. I didn't do that again. Or there is the time mom kept telling me to clean my room and I kept putting it off. Then one day she didn't say anything. She went to the kitchen and got the big trash can to take to my room. Next thing I knew she started throwing everything in the floor in the trash. Needless to say, I was ready to clean my room right then. Anyway, as I got older, I realized how much time and happiness I was wasting dreading to do things. I learned that if I do it immediately, I don't have to dread it anymore. Also the quicker I do it, the quicker it is done and over with. I also love the feeling of accomplishment. There are some times now that I really have to prioritize. So I may procrastinate doing laundry in order to get all the dishes clean. Or I may not clean in my own house to conserve energy to do something for my neighbor. My energy is limited right now. So I constantly have to make those kinds of decisions lately. I would rather just run around like a superwoman and get it all done right now so I don't have to worry about it anymore. However, that isn't likely to happen now because I think my superwoman days may be over. I have to pace myself. I am trying to figure out how I can develop a system or routine to make this easier on myself. In my head, I am thinking, I am going to do this, this, and this. Then by the time I do part of the first this, I am hurting and spent. This is why sometimes I struggle with setting goals. I have a feeling I am about to have to fight hard and work hard to regain my health. This is all a process and takes time and patience. |
Take UP Your Cross Prompt for September 16th Prompt: Am I vulnerable with God? Do I invite him in to know my pain, weaknesses and fears? Do I open myself up to be corrected, trained and instructed by God’s word? Answer: The answer to all of the above is a resounding yes. Who else can I trust so completely. I tell him things I don't talk to anyone else about. Reading the Bible without the Holy Spirit is like trying to see yourself in the mirror when there are no lights turned on. When the Holy Spirit comes in, there is light. You can then see yourself clearly enough to make changes. You can brush your hair and make sure everything is where it needs to be. That is what the Holy Spirit does with the Bible. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Prompt: In a world full of trends, I want to remain a classic. Write about this in your Blog entry today. This is pretty much how I have always felt. I don't want to fit the mold and be like everyone else. I don't want to keep up with the Jones's. I just want to be me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Prompt: I was cruising the galaxy with Twikkie and found this planet: T.L.Finch (149) Read this item:

PROMPT September 16th I know you've done it. I know I have. Tell us about a time you were inappropriately dressed for the occasion. I have been trying to decide what to write for this prompt all day. It seems like I have written something like this before and don't wish to repeat myself. So I think I have decided to write about dressing for church as a teenager. My dad required me to wear dresses every time I went, Sunday morning and Sunday night and Wednesday evening. Well, when I was a teen is when fashions began changing. Sundays and Wednesdays became more casual. So when I would show up in my dresses and skirts, I would get made fun of. I wasn't even allowed to wear coolocks. I had to wear those a lot at school. While I have no problem dressing up on occasion now, my personal opinion is that sometimes it is more decent and “modest” to wear pants. Dresses make me feel vulnerable/exposed. I will wear shorts under them instead of a slip. If you move wrong, the dress/skirt will expose parts you want to keep covered. Providing your pants are not skin tight, what are they exposing? Styles have changed. Just because I wear pants does not mean I am wearing a man's apparel. There are some pants now days men just wouldn't look right in. Lol Back in the day, when women wore dresses all the time, their underwear also covered more than the underwear we have today. The reason I make this point is because there are Christians who still try to abide with those values. If that is what tickles their fancy, more power to them. However, for me, I would have to disagree. I will wear my pants. I will dress comfortably and modestly. As long as I am not showing all of God's creation (and sometimes I feel dresses do), then I don't see a problem with wearing what I wear. Now I even wear sleeveless shirts and shorts. My mom would fit about that. Anyway, this ties into the prompt because I always felt overdressed and uncomfortable. Be careful not to move wrong or sit wrong because you might expose yourself, but this was supposed to be modest apparel. Um, okay, if you say so. If I was wearing slacks, I wouldn't have to worry about that. So how exactly is a dress more modest than women's slacks? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Okay, that was rather therapeutic to write about that. Lol |
Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Do you believe you can be completely truthful with God? Why or Why not? Answer: I believe it doesn't do you much good to be anything but truthful with God. He knows the innermost thoughts of your heart. He is everywhere all the time. He already knows everything including your secrets. He knew the moment Adam and Eve sinned. He knows our every thought, intention, and action. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So you tell us, what if? What if? Should have. Could have. Would have. What might have been? I think a lot of times these phrases are laced with regret and sorrow. What about what if? It didn't happen. What if I made a mistake? I can learn from it and move on. I can't undo it. What is done is done? What if I let go and let God? What if I trust in the Almighty’s power. What if I let him give me beauty for my ashes? What if I let him work all things for my good and the good of others? What if I trust his sovereignty? What if I know he thinks great and awesome thoughts towards me and has great plans and purpose for my life? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Day 3228: September 15, 2021 Prompt: “All great beginnings start in the dark, when the moon greets you to a new day at midnight.” ― Shannon L. Alder Is starting over always starting in the dark? Hmmm! That's a good question. I never really thought of it that way. In some ways, I guess I can see it. I don't think every new beginning is in the dark though. For example, when you give your life to Jesus, then he takes all the darkness away. In him is light and no darkness at all.

PROMPT September 15th We've all cooked meals at one time or another. What was the most memorable meal you've prepared? Tell us who you prepared it for, and the occasion that caused you to prepare this meal, For me, this would be the first time I cooked the Thanksgiving meal for the family. There were going to be 6 of us and I cooked for 2 days like I was cooking for an army. Lol we are leftovers for a week and ended up throwing some out. I learned from that though. I learned at that time, you must consider the people you are cooking for and the amount they are able to eat. I cooked so much food, mom was storing some of it in the car because it was cold outside. I cooked the turkey of course. I made deviled eggs, a vegetable platter, mac and cheese, chicken and dumplings, dressing, potato salad, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, corn, green beans, dinner rolls, stuffed celery sticks, fruit salad, jello salad, pumpkin pie, chocolate pie, butterscotch pie, and cranberry sauce. When we got done eating, mom says, “Now you get to do the dishes.” I looked at her like you have got to be kidding me. Lol I was exhausted. She laughed and told me to go rest, that her and dad would take care of the dishes. I have enjoyed cooking since I was old enough to learn, but I have always hated doing the dishes. Unfortunately, part of cooking good food is using and cleaning the dishes. I have come to accept this truth with age. I still like to cook a good Thanksgiving meal, but definitely toned down a lot now. I enjoy get together over a home cooked meal. Occasionally I enjoy inviting friends over for dinner and a game night where we will play a board game or two afterward. That is always fun. As I get older though, I find that I have fewer and fewer people to invite over for dinner. Hopefully, I never completely run out of them because this is a good way to break the monotony. I might cook a pot roast and veggies. I might fry some chicken with potatoes and gravy and green beans and a dinner roll. Hamburgers and tater tots are great too. It depends what everyone is in the mood for. Tacos, hot dogs, chips, steaks, and just about anything desirable sounds good to me. I am no gourmet cook, but I can cook when I really want to. The problem is I love to eat as much as I love to cook. Needless to say, I am not skinny. I also love trying new foods, eating and cooking them. Food is fun. |
Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Do I believe that God wants me to know him? (This includes me knowing how he thinks and feels about me) Answer: Yes, I believe he does. He put it all through the Bible, his character and his feelings for me. The Bible is filled with his love for me. He passionately pursues a relationship with me and desires for me to do the same with him. It is beautiful and wonderful. There is no God like him. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The privilege of praise and worship ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Prompt: If the money system would fizzle out, what would life be without money? How would you get what you needed? I would trust in God to provide my needs. He works in ways we can not see. He always makes a way for me. He has wonders to perform. He fed either Elishah or Elijah with the widow’s small supply and one of them the Ravens brought him food. An angel I believe provided food for Elijah once. I get them two confused with each other. God provided bread (manna) and quail to the Israelites in the wilderness and provided water from a rock. Time and time again, God has provided supernaturally for those who have put their faith in him. The beautiful thing is that even if he chooses not to give me the physical things I need and it causes me to physically die, I know I will still be in a better place with him then in physical comfort without him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Today we cruised near the galactic meridian. Do you have a favorite quote about this subject you would like to share? Patience is a virtue and my little dog doesn't have any. Lol

PROMPT September 14th What is the worst movie you have seen? Tell us why you consider it the worst. Mine is The Star Wars Holiday Special. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_(1995_film) Now this is right down a lot of people’s ally. I found it sick and disturbing. A boyfriend actually took me to see this movie on a date. I was repulsed by the movie. Now I will admit, I was 20 years old when I saw it, I had somewhat of a sheltered existence. Even though I had experienced my own abuse, I think this movie shocked me into realizing there was a whole other level of evil in the world that I had not previously been aware of. This movie made me feel sick at my stomach. I told the boyfriend to never bring me to see another movie like that again. This relationship only lasted a couple of months. It ended when he threatened violence toward me and if I had caught him, I was going to show him some violence for even thinking he could threaten me. He ran out the door before I got a hold of him though. Lol For the record, He threatened to push me off my own balcony. I was like,” Excuse me! Who is going to push who off? First of all this is my apartment! Get out, now!” My temper was a bit fiery in my twenties. He was extremely skinny and I have always been at least a little chubby. He knew I had the strength to pick him up and throw him. He saw the look in my eyes and heard the tone in my voice and knew I was not playing. He ran while cussing at me. I was so angry, I think I threw a chair at him across my living room. It almost nailed him too. He finished running out the apartment door and held it shut while I hit it. I so wanted to rip him a new one. What was funny was my best friend was over for a visit and had gone to the restroom. She was in there during the fight. She peeks out and says, “Is it safe to come out now?” she had heard the whole thing go down so I really can’t blame her. She said he was a loser anyway. Lol Oh yeah, I am supposed to be talking about the movie. 🤷♀️ Well, if you read the link I attached, it will explain a lot if you haven't seen the movie. I obviously don't recommend it. The most disgusting scene was the one where a prostitute was involved. I am trying to keep this content decent for readers here. Basically, it is about a serial killer who uses the 7 deadly sins as a motive to kill. That boyfriend brought out the wrath in me. |
Take UP Your Cross Prompt Intimacy with God: What Does It Mean to Experience It? Answer: It is never being completely alone. It is having constant companionship. It is getting to know him. It is spending lots of time and communicating with him. It is enjoying reading the Bible. It is glorious to praise him. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
