Prompt: We're seeing more DUI (driving under the influence) related deaths. Do you feel the consequences are high enough or should they make them more severe? I know we all live in different areas, is it just in the states or is it problem where you live as well.

I think DUI is a worldwide problem. Here in Perth a medical specialist was charged with driving under the influence causing death. There is CCTV footage of him driving at excessive speed through the suburbs. His own dash camera shows the journey he undertook that fateful night, the audio reveals how angry and drunk he was. He ended up crashing into an Uber. A young woman who was just getting into the vehicle was killed instantly, the Uber driver has life altering injuries.
In court this week the offender was given 8.5 years before being entitled to parole. The judge, in his summary, said "there are no winners here." I disagree. The driver won. He got off light. After eight years he can get out and live his life, fortunately without his medical license, but that twenty year old, who was doing the right thing after a night out by catching an Uber, is dead.
He took a life and should have received a much harsher sentence.
