| The Secret Box To find the secret box you must investigate old grampa’s desk, inspect each cranny and clear the dust from every nook and arabesque. With time and care then you will find the unknown path to the secret box; in one far corner out of mind there lurks a lever without locks. Press twice upon the furthest end and mutter words like “espadrille,” a concealed panel will then descend, mysterious chamber to reveal. Reach within the space so dark and you will find the box you seek; bring it to the bright light stark, lift carvèd lid with nervous squeak. A slip of paper you will find, folded once and twice and thrice; those creases you must now unwind, and read these words beyond a price.. “To find the secret box you must investigate old grampa’s desk, inspect each cranny and clear the dust from every nook and arabesque.” Line count: 24 Rhymed abab cdcd For Promptly Poetry, Week 33 Prompt: Use this as your title and allow it to stir your imagination: "The Secret Box." |
