My Grandmother's Cat

My Grandmother's cat
was a neutered Siamese
that answered to the name of Jay.

On hot summer days,
Jay cat napped
curled up in a hen's nest.

While Jay slept,
the hens would lay their eggs
in nests on either side.

Jay and Pal,
the neighbor's Boarder Collie
would play in the shade
of my Grandmother's Cottonwood Tree
and share Pal's water dish.
