The Silence After:
To Shirlee Alice Schmidt

The silence after,
         her spirit ascended
         into the spiritual world,
reverberated through our minds
to penetrate our souls.

The silence after,
         our tears were shed,
ascended
on the atoms of our loneliness
to her new abode.

The silence after,
         our prayers were said,
ascended on chords of love
announced to God and all His host
her entrance into their realm.
