Poems and prose for various contests over the course of the decade. |
From the shadows I call back that which was shamed; That which I pushed away As being the ugly parts of myself. But I am not a full human being Without all those parts of me -- The good with the bad The contrasts and complexities That make me who I truly am Worts and all. But what is seen as shadowy and shameful Is only a product of culture A culture that praises the strength of the masculine And diminishes all that is feminine Little does this culture realize the balance of both... Together the two bring out the best of each other And all of us carry the essence of both -- Masculine and Feminine. The Feminine births the ideas and desires of your soul The Masculine takes those ideas and makes them solid in the world. Both are needed to balance our energies Both are necessary for a full life. To cast out one in favour of the other Diminishes both. Lines = 24 Notes ▶︎ ![]() ![]() |
