If I told you I fell in love with your soul
Would you be dismayed?
Would you roll your eyes?
Would it make you cry?
You might tell me it isn't mutual.
I can't bear to see you leave.

If you told me you fell in love with my soul,
I would be scared, thrilled, delighted.
Yet I always would worry I wasn't enough.
If we both fell, we'd land arm in arm
On firm ground we'd build from the bottom up
Each promising to do the other no harm.
If I fell, I'd want you there to catch me.
