Bop
Now I have to write a Bop.
A thing to do, I can not stop.
Like a sonnet, it is written.
But sonnets, I don't know.
Should it rhyme or form I show?
A difficult problem off I've bitten.
Lines and words and rhymes all swirled.
Another poem to add to the world.
Argumentative, I say, or ask.
I am clueless about the success of my task.
Four more lines to this stanza.
Hard words to choose, like organza.
This poem's a mess, I cannot lie.
One more stanza to this try.
My words don't match the theme.
I can't quite keep to the scheme.
This poem's a dud time to toss it out.
I wrote it though, so here it is.
I am such a poetry wiz.
It's over now, let's just shout.
The bop is a new form of poetry introduced by poet Afaa Michael Weaver. It is an argumentative form, like the sonnet, with three stanzas, each with a purpose in the argument.
The first six-line stanza introduces the problem, the second eight-line stanza expands upon it, and the final six-line stanza explains the solution or failed attempts. There is a repeated refrain line after each stanza.
** Poem should be inspired by the prompt/image in some way
** Your submission must be newly written for this week's prompt
