Red Shift:
To The Readers of My Poetry

In this darkness
these words are photons
emanating from the poet's mind
reflecting off the reader's perceptions
and into the prism of their experience:
What does the poem tell the reader about the poet?

Wherever the reader is in space-time,
connotations lengthen a poem's wavelength
away from the poet:
What does the poem mean to the reader?

Poet's Note:

The "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise prompt for DAY 1721
Do you like writing or have you ever written poetry? What does poetry do to its poets and readers? And do you think writing poetry is important especially for the writers of prose or fiction: Why?

Poetry

I like writing and
I like reading poetry!

For the poet
poetry is a proclamation of faith,
self-expression,
therapy,
and a comment about the world.

For the reader
poetry is an emotion,
a glimpse into the poet's mind,
and a new way of looking at the world.

Poetry is important because
it penetrates the soul of the reader.
