Groundbreaking of the First Baha'i Center
Constructed in the Sate of Nevada, November 10, 1996 A.D.

Littered with stones,
washed down from mountains
that ten billion years ago
was the floor of an inland sea,
the ground lays ready;
prepared to sacrifice its all
for the Glory of God.

Created
from the sacrifices of creatures
whose bodies
littered the floor of an ancient ocean,
the stones have waited ten billion years
for this day.

For ten billion years
the land has waited
for this moment,
waited for the shovel to bite
into its skin
and remove its sacrifice
for the Cause of God.
