We live much of life amid unique choices. Joy is anchored in The One beyond our life. |
“There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. . . . Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God's Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord. . . .” ― Charles Spurgeon “Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.” ― C. H. Spurgeon “Hope itself is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.” ― Charles Haddon Spurgeon “If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.” ― Charles Spurgeon “A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.” ― Charles Spurgeon “Visit many good books, but live in the Bible.” ― Charles Spurgeon “When your will is God's will, you will have your will.” ― Charles Spurgeon https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/2876959.Charles_Haddon_Spurgeon (Philippians 2:13, KJV) |
To God alone is Glory due, today and evermore, 'tis true. When others worship thoughts of man, we stand upon His Finished Plan. Th'unholiness of the present age finds God's own silence as a gage of strength that's lacking to defend Creation's Hope as Moses penned. Yet, Fitness always runs His race to maturation by His Grace. The smelter ends the drossing heat when purity is full, complete. The Day of Grace we'll know for now, until the last soul stoops to bow before the Throne of Majesty, receiving Hope, his bonds to free. Reform we not by strength of mind for weakness stops us, most unkind. Salvation comes by Christ Alone. His Gift on the cross did sin atone. By faith alone His Gift receive by His Gift to your spirit do you believe. For grace is the gift and faith is, too, no boasting soul will ever do. For we are made by Christ Himself, not with a red suit, nor by an elf. The Glory All belongs to Him, Who died and rose to live, again. Re-formed we are, completely new. The "Solas" teach us all that's True. The floating dead in the sea of sin given life by Christ, our hope to win. --------------------------------------- Scripture Reference: "8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: "9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. "10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." Death and Life are with us now. The line, though thin, is sensed somehow. Ghosts and goblins of this day are actors with a scare display. "I call on Heaven and Earth this day. Record the deeds against your play. I've set before you life and death, of blessing, cursing, (fleeting breath.)" "I urge you now to choose you life, that you and your seed be free from strife." The word of God is firm and terse. It gives us hope in every verse. For some receive the Truth made known, though others reject, from hope are flown. We live within His living wings. His daily Glory voices sing. "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, [that] I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:" (Deuteronomy 30:19, KJV) "1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust."
