| I had my follow up appointment with the Cardiologist today, and he put me back on Eliquise twice a day, and increased another medicine to twice a day also. He is concerned that I'm a prime canidate for a stroke, this makes my morning count of pills I take to 13! As I've said before "better living through pharmaceuticals." Oh well at least I'm alive and still kicking. Having so much time in the hospital here lately I've had a time to do some people watching. Sitting in the hallway of the emergency room waiting to be called in for whatever test they want to run then back into the hallway until they decide what is next. All the people are hoping for the same thing, to have whatever ales them taken care of! We're all different but actually were the same. We come in all types of shapes and sizes and we all wish we weren't there. It's a catch 22 and you have no choice but to sit there and wait it out. Since my patience runs on the short side, I'm not always a happy camper, but I've learned that it doesn't do any good to complain or whine. They will get to you as soon as they can. I must say "in that situation the nurses and doctors do a good job along with the other employees who are assisting them." I'm hoping to get off this pony real soon and get back to writing about something interesting. Hopefully that will be sooner than later! Life is Good - God is Great |
| Yesterday I had an angiogram and nothing was found, the stints I have in my body are working as intended, no new problems were seen. Arrived at 8:30 AM and didn't get out until 5 PM, because you have to keep your right leg still while the entry point clots. I came out of the OR at 12:30 PM so it was a long day in the bed. But it's over for now. Next thing on my list is having 5 teeth pulled on July 12. I should get the release from my Cardiologist on Monday and then on to next adventure. You can't plan for this much fun. I want to say I'll be free and clear but with the way my year has been going no one knows for sure. Needless to say my wife and I haven't had much time to plan on a day trip or a weekend away. Course with the cost of gas at $6.09 a gallon, I'm not sure a want to take a trip. All the younger people are ready to get out and get going but that means more cars on the road. Next year we plan to take a week off and take our daughter and a couple of her friends to celebrate her 50th birthday. My wife and daughter will do the planning, and I'll come along for the ride. Maybe I'll find the spring in my step, or the energy I'll need to have a good time. It's time to come alive and start having fun!!! Life is Good - God is Great |
| I spent the last 4 days at the Hospital with chest pains, but nothing was found, so I came home on Friday, and My 4 kids came home for Fathers Day on Saturday, My wife made Lasagna and Salad along with Garlic Bread, it was nice to see my kids plus two Grandkids, made my day!! Poked and prodded, is all you get in the Hospital, though I'm used to it, it's no fun. I will say that all the nurses who took care of me were very nice, and that made the stay a little easier. I should have stayed for a angiogram but I wanted to go home, now I need to see if I can get one as an outpatient. They did 3 EKG's and 3 Echocardiograms and 1 Nuclear Stress Test with nothing found. | I finally got tired of dealing with not having Wi-Fi and I called Spectrum out to fix the problem. I have had good luck with Spectrum dealing with people on the phone and when needing someone to come out they usually have someone there the next day. I never had that kind of service with Frontier! I have 3 TV sets in the house and evidently two of the wires going to the other TV's were bad and causing interference with my main TV. He went ahead and changed out the WI-Fi tower and disconnected the other 2 TV's so we wouldn't have anymore interference. It worked and so I spent more time changing the password on all my other equipment that needed updating. That included my Solar Panels, I had to call someone to give me a hand with that. It took some time to locate the panel I had to open and reset it, and then I had to get the app to update while I was standing in front of the box. It's like I keep saying "I'm getting to old for this much hassle!" Fortunately all the people I've dealt with on the phone have been very patient, courteous and helpful. That helps a lot! Moving onto other things, I've been thinking about the past and some of the things I remember. My first professional Baseball game was with the Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brave and they played in the Coliseum in Los Angeles, I must have been around 10 years old. My brother and I had taken new baseballs to get autographs of the players and managers. I was able to get Walter Austin manager, PeeWee Reece, Gill Hodges, Don Drysdale, Sandy Koufax, and I remember getting Warn Spawns signature for the Braves. Unfortunately I didn't save the baseball and used it one day when I needed it! Oh the stupid things we do when we're kids and don't know what's really important. | The heat of course! It was 103 on our patio yesterday and that's just a precursor of what's to come. May and June of been a tease some days warm others hot. It's trying to get us ready for the summer months. After living in Needles for 13 years, I'd like to say we're used to it, but that's not the case. Each year is different and as we get older the heat affects us differently. I've been checking the Tesla Power Wall app, to see how we're doing. So far we've made it without drawing off the Edison grid, but this morning was a different story. The solar panels don't start making power until 6"30 to 7 am and it shuts down around 5:30 to 600pm. It takes from 7am to 11:30 to fully charge the power wall, and so far we've done that. Our house is well insulated and stays cool till 12:00pm. The Air Conditioner has been coming on after that and we've managed to stay within the parameters. When the Air kicks on earlier it changes things, if we leave it set for 76 degrees when we go to bed it starts taking power off the power wall. Anyway our hope had been to get through this summer running the air and not having any electric billsl come. Only time will tell if we're successful. It's 7:30am and I've been up since 4am. I've walked the dog 30 min which was 1 and 1/3 miles. Taken out the trash, had breakfast and took the time to write in this blog. I will do the dishes when I get done and swifter the house. Then it will be time to sit outside and enjoy a beautiful morning. Life is Good - God is Great |
| Time marches on, and I'm trying to do my best to keep up with. I'm finally starting to feel better and I have more energy. I was told it takes 60 or more days to get the drugs out of my system and I probably have at least 40 more days to go. Something to look forward to! We took a trip to Hobby Lobby today because my wife wanted to pick up different items, so I wondered around the store. I did my best not to get in her way and I definitely didn't want to make her feel rushed. I've learned over the years about trying to push her along. I'm the kind of shopper that goes in for the items I have on my list and then back out the door. I'm Not A Shopper and that doesn't sit well with my wife. When she wants to go shopping I tell to give our daughter a call and they can look all they want. It was Taco Tuesday and we stopped on the way home at Bakers, they tasted good, it had been awhile since we couldn't go there. I was restricted from eating any food groups that came out of the ground because of the chance for bacteria. When we finished we stopped by Windy's and picked up 2 Chocolate Frosty's one large one small and took them home. I've found the small shake doesn't send my blood sugar climbing very much. Since I'm felling better I decided to volunteer to be a liturgist at my church, I want to get more involved. I'm hoping to get involved in a Bible Study class also. I always feel at home in Church! | I received a Copy of The Pulse Of The High Desert containing information about the High Desert Victorville, Hesperia, Apple Valley, Lucern Valley and Barstow. There was and interesting article (author unknown) that had some interesting information in it. Here are some statistics for year 1922, the average life expectancy for men was 47 years, Fuel for cars was sold in drug stores only. Only 14 percent of homes had a bathtub and only 8 percent of homes had a telephone. The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph. The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower, average US wage in 1922 was 22 cents per hour. The average US worker made between $200 and $400 per year. A dentist earned $2,500 per year, veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year. More than 95 percent of all births took place at home. 90 percent of all Doctors had No College Education, instead they attended so-called medical schools. Sugar cost four cents a pound , Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen and Coffee was fifteen cents a pound. Most women washed their hair once a month and used Borax or egg yolks for shampoo. Canada passed law prohibiting poor people from entering into their country for any reason The five leading causes of death were: Pneumonia and influenza, Tuberculosis, Diarrhea, Heart disease and Stroke. The American flag had 45 stars The population of Las Vegas, Nevada was only 30 people. Crossword puzzles, canned beer and ice tea hadn't been invented yet. Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were available over the counter at local drugstores. | The latest mass shooting in Uvalde, has once again brought the gun debate to the forefront of the news. It's hard to believe that our Senators can't come up with a bill that will tackle the problem. I saw and add for Jimmy Fallon show where he said "I'm required to get a license to go fishing, but I can go buy a AR15 Rifle with large magazine of bullets and nothing is needed"! Why does someone need to own a AR15 rifle? Something is wrong with this picture. The gun owners say guns don't kill people, people kill people. Then if people kill people then why don't you enact the laws that keep people from purchasing guns. This will continue because of copycat gunmen who want to kill more than the last mass shooting suspect. These gunmen are boys who I guess want to make a name for themselves. Somebody help stop the insanity! Life is Good - God is Great |
| June 1st is the day that California begins its Rationing. The word on the street is that people are not paying attention to it and they have increased their use of water in the last couple of months. We have reservoirs that are drying up, Lake Mead is at its lowest level since they built it and yet people are not paying attention. I guess they don't believe the science behind global warming is real! Just look at the weather maps for the western states, all of them are showing red which means drought. What does it take for people to wake up and realize we're in serious trouble, and if we don't do something about it were going to be up a creek without a paddle, because there's no water in the creek! Times are tough with gas and food prices up and throw in mass shootings at our elementary schools. We need to work on the problems not bury our heads in the sand. Every decade has had a disaster of some kind but we survived. We need to work together to help find a solution! Life is Good - God is Great |
