I've been banned from ladders too. In 2021 I fell off a ladder 11 steps down, broke both of my feet painting the trim on our house before we sold it. I made the move to Las Vegas with my feet in air casts and crutches.

I, too, am very reluctant to ask for help. My sons, especially the younger one, are always ready to help, but I don't ask them unless they ask me if I need this or that to be taken care of.

My husband and I find that a little walk in the park, watching little children play keeps us grounded and we try not to project what those innocent children's future will bring.
Stress is a killer and this week has been a bit of a test. We lost our beautiful dog after over 12 years. She has never given us stress in fact she's absorbed much of our stress in her own calm way. We certainly could have done without any added stress this week. This has only served to prove the time has come to say "No More!
