The study and challenge of writing in Verse Form help hone our writing skills. The truth of the poem is what touches the reader but skilled writing is the delivery truck. If the truck hits potholes or runs off the road, the truth can get banged up or not delivered at all.

Writing in form is a great writing discipline. It is the exercise of the craft that delivers the soul.

Hi Jaya, Thanks for reading my little poem and making such an encouraging comment. Thanks again. This one was fun to write, playing with alliteration, rhyme and syllable count. And the prompt was perfect for me, I didn't have to make up a thing. :) 1962 jumped out at me and I remembered the year like yesterday. The year my whole life changed.

this is what I call freedom. No cares, no bills. Dream life for me having married at 21 entering a house full of responsibilities.

Oh, for a life of freedom!

You showed what it consists of in a series of real life images, including “cute cowboy”.
The prompt fits your content like a glove.

Hi Judi, I am reviewing your poem "Week 3. May Flowers"

May Flowers brought me in.
I delightful poem describing the characters garden beginning at the gate,
I heard the gate open with a squeak as I walked into an amazing abundance of May flowers all swaying for attention
Look at me they called, don't forget me the peony, I'm pretty in pink.
The daisies crying for attention dancing along the back fence, how wonderful.
I love Michaelmas daisies, reminds me of my Granma's garden, she always had them.

A tribute to the author.
Thank you for letting me into your world of poems.

I love the power and mystery of this! What a wonderful form, and your mastery of it! I found the rhyme subtle--didn't even notice it at first except as harmonious sound until the end--and then straightforwardly there.

I love the line: but everyone wants what they want when they want it. So true, and so powerful right there in the center of the poem.
