Jason takes a moment then replies, “Well, the freshman 50 sounds good to me - better than the freshman 15, which I think I might already have!" He grins as he looks down at his growing gut. "Especially if that's what you're going for."
"And I am," Travis affirms.
"But you're bigger than I am - a lot bigger. And if I've already put on 15 pounds, that's in less than six weeks... and there's a lot of weeks left in the year. The freshman 50 might even be too low - maybe I should be gunning for your size! Speaking of which, I noticed how you neatly avoided telling me how big you are..."
"True, if you've already put on 15 pounds in just six weeks, then you could probably pack on 60 or even 75 pounds this year, if you try," Travis noted in an encouraging tone.
"And you?"
"Well, at my size, it actually takes more work - and more food - to put on weight."
"You're still avoiding my question..."
"Yeah, how big I am. Well, to be truthful, I haven't been on a scales in nearly a year."
"What? You don't know how big you are? How were you going to tell if you'd cracked the frosh 50?"
"Oh, I'd go by pants size."
"Pant size?"
"Yup, it's one thing that always keeps growing - and that I can't avoid knowing!"
"Hey, I'd say this big old thing also just keep growing," Jason chortled as he bounced a hand off his old friend's massive paunch. "I'd bet you're over the 4-0-0 mark!"
"Yup, twice the man you are!" Travis laughed in return.
"Not quite, 'cause..."
Travis interrupted. "You're over 200?"
"Way over - was 210 before this!" Jason affirmed.
"Way to go, man!" Travis exulted, then turned to Jason, hands up. The two high-fived, then low-fived. "So, new jeans then a feed?"
"A big feed!" Jason affirmed.
