Matthew was happy the main house of the farm was still intact. As it was, he could go and take the money he would of been payed and a bit more. As he was looking through the kitchen, he heard something land outside and went to see the phoenix-woman had returned.

Aurora looked around at the burnt fields and destroyed houses. She didn't even realize she had come back here. "Why did I come back?" she thought, "Why can't I get him out of my head?! He's just one guy. One guy who contradicts what my mother taught me, but still!" Her train of thought was interrupted by a call from behind her.

"Hey Phoenix!" Matthew called, approaching. Aurora turned and saw Matthew approach. On his back was a bag of goods.

"I thought you said you had nothing left?" Aurora asked.

"Well, I forgot about some fo the food in the kitchen and the money owed for my work done," Matthew replied, "Oh by the way, I didn't give you my name before." He held out his hand so she would shake it. "My name's Matthew." Aurora looked at him.

"Mine is Aurora," Aurora replied, reaching down and engulfing Matthew's hand. She let go and sat down on the ground. "Why am I like this?" she asked aloud.

"Like what?" Matthew asked. He sat in front of her.

"I was raised to hate humans and kill you," Aurora said, "But I can't kill you. I don't know why, but I just can't! I'm a failure!" Aurora started to become distraught. Matthew stood up and stroked her leg gently.

"No, you're not a failure," Matthew replied, "You're just different. And being different isn't a bad thing."

"How would you know!" Aurora asked.

"Because I don't have a place to call home," Matthew replied, "I just wander from place to place, looking for work and food. I don't have any real friends." Matthew smiled as he spoke.

"Part of me would like to take you to my home," Aurora replied, "But my mother would kill you on sight."

"I see," Matthew said, "So, why don't you come with me on my journey? Maybe we could find a place for the both of us?" Aurora stared at Matthew.

"What is up with him? Why does he not leave or cower from me? He just stays there, looking at me in ways no one has ever looked at me before? Oh what am I going to do?" she thought.

Aurora then said, "I'd like. . .
