On the Road and Dumbing Down

It was hot. It was scorching. It was sweltering. It was burning. It was--this was not helping her case.

The search for Cecil was a desperate one, far more trying than Rosa could have ever imagined, but it was one, all the same, she had to take. Baron was rotting, it seemed, the stench lingering far and wide, but without a trace of what meat lay festering. Her Dark Knight had fallen out of favor, recently, but was admired and respected by military and civilian populations alike. If anyone could set things right, it would be him. Also she missed her dumb, pretty boyfriend, and there's no way he could die to something so small as a quadruple earthquake/rock slide.

But all the determination in the world was worthless if she'd run out of water in the deserts of Kaipo. Like she had. Heat stroke and fever could make you go crazy!

"Hah hah!" Rosa laughed at the word crazy, tongue cracked and eyes stinging with the last of her water draining out as tears. "Look...!" She cried, suddenly pointing to something. "An oasis!!"

"Oh, thank the gods--Never mind, that's just a cactus." She corrected, turning away and stepped back towards Sand Dune #143. "Damn..."

Then there was an epiphany. "But cacti contain water!"

"Let's go!!" She cried, stumbling and falling over and over to the green thing.
