Aaron listened intently to the scientists as they outlined their DNA therapy. Though frankly, he couldn't understand a word of what they were saying. They did sound competent and confident, he was guided on a tour around their lab for the early experiments. Again, he had to take their word that the new cats had previously been toms, and the bitches with their litters were previously dogs. Out the back in an open pasture, he was assured that the field of cows were previously bulls.
They were quite open about their limits, after all. None of those species had been infected and erased, only humanity suffered from the extermination of all the women. They assured Aaron they'd reinforced the DNA, the explanation only gave him a headache. It was something to do with being more extreme, but he waved it aside.
Aaron wasn't terribly happy with his role. It wasn't something that intrigued him, though it would make him... Well, her one of the first of the new breed, and assure her of a place in history. A saviour of humanity. The alternative was accepting the end of humanity as a species. He doubted any of the other Venus projects were any more likely to succeed, or any more comprehensible.
So when, the doctor revealed the syringe on the stainless steel tray, he meekly rolled up his arm.
