Narra decided she needed to have a look inside but she didn’t want anyone to know she was here yet. An organization that could take down a Princess might be very large and very powerful so she had to be careful. She was very familiar with poisons and herbs, so if there were any hidden in the kitchen she should be able to find them.
She took the time waiting for darkness to set up camp and have a few edible plants so she wouldn’t get hungry. There would be no campfire this close to the inn in case the guards came to investigate. As soon as she felt able to hide in the shadows she slipped away from her camp and headed towards the inn. The moon was only half full but the light was more than sufficient for her eyes.
The guards didn’t break up their routines, so it was easy to time their passage and slip through unnoticed under the cover of darkness. She watched closely the inner courtyard which had many more lanterns to light it and few places for cover. Thankfully, the guards appeared to be more interested in talking than patrolling.Narra found that luck favored her when she felt right in her actions. Her master had often laughed at the thought because he believed only doing your job and he believed that if things were easy it was because someone wasn’t doing their job.
She peered through the window of the kitchen and saw they were finishing up the cleaning of the kitchen before they left for the night. The elf was glad she had taken training in the art of lock pick and her nimble fingers opened the simple lock. Odors of many spices and foods struck her nose but she needed to find out if there was something more here than delicious food being cooked up.
