Chapter #6

Heather "Lucky" Miles

    by: PenSlayer5 Author IconMail Icon
A low groan escaped from the shattered remains that had once been a school. A bloody hand slowly clawed its way out of the rubble, followed by the rest of it beaten up owner. Their long blonde hair was now partially stained red and covered in debris, while their clothes were left in tatters. It was Heather Miles, still alive and kicking.

The tall girl desperately crawled her way out of the destruction and to the bottom of the stone steps. She fought through the pain she felt to force herself into a sitting position and just marveled at the fact she'd somehow survived the geek girl's wrath.

Her entourage was gone, her kingdom was gone, and all of her loyal subjects had either fled or been crushed like bugs underfoot. She took a deep and painful breath before letting out a painful cough. How the hell was she even still alive? She should be dead as disco right now.

"Grandpa always said I was born lucky." She half joked to herself. It hurt to laugh. Honestly it hurt to just exist at the moment. She was bruised up, marked up, cut up, and miraculously survived having a building fall on her because of a vengeful giant nerd. She really was lucky, wasn't she?

She looked straight ahead to see the destruction Enda had left in her wake. Flattened cars, flattened people, broken pavement and buildings, and deep footprints all leading towards the city. It wasn't just her the geek girl had a bone to pick with, she had it out for everyone it would seem.

The defeated bully reached into her pocket to check her phone. The screen was definitely cracked but otherwise remained operational. She scrolled through all of her contacts until she found exactly who she wanted. "Pick up, Patsy."

The phone rang about three or four times before the girl on the other end finally decided to pick up. "Heather is that you!"

"Yeah it's me." She answered.

"Thank god! I just saw what happened on my phone at the school and Enda is all over the news destroying the city like God-Fucking-Zilla! What the hell is going on over there!"

Heather spit out a glob of blood on the sidewalk. "I told you not to skip school. But then again, it's probably for the best. You might've died like everyone else here otherwise."

"Yeah." Patsy admitted, a little shaken up by that fact. "Listen, I don't live too far from the school so, do you need me to drive out and get you?"

Heather couldn't help but smile. Patsy really was her most loyal. "That'd be great. I'm sitting on the front steps of the school right now. It's a real mess over here."

"I bet." She agreed. "Just sit tight and I'll be there soon, okay. Heather? Heather...?"

Heather Miles couldn't answer as she'd passed out from blood loss and exhaustion. By some small miracle she wouldn't die, but she was in no condition to finish her conversation.

In panic, Patsy grabbed her keys and headed rushed to her car before driving out to the school. She didn't live in the city so she hopefully wouldn't cross paths with Edna, but she really hoped Heather was okay. She was the only real friend she had.
