Ruby shuddered at the idea of being close to Yang’s feet. She was crushed so many times under Weiss’, she didn’t want her own sister to step on her like some bug. So she focused on the slightly safer option, the couch.
“It’s better than socks.” Ruby convinced herself, then started running straight for it.
It was easy to run from the changing room and towards the couch and she was lucky there were no giants walking around to stomp on her. The hard part came when it came to climbing. She looked up and was frightened by the scale and how much effort it’d take for her to simply reach the top. The dangling legs of her older sister nearby didn’t make her feel safe either, but she couldn’t sit here and do nothing.
Taking a deep breath, she dug her hand into the material of the dull-looking couch and started her climb upwards. The noises of the crowd and the music high above her were the only things she could hear for the time being aside from her breathing.
She really wanted to chew out Blake for placing her in Weiss’ boot. Sure, she was panicking and had little time, but still she was mad about it. Somehow it distracted her from being scared of being small. Anything and everything could be dangerous to the small team leader, but even so she felt a little brave knowing she was immune to most of it. Hopefully she didn’t learn her limits.
In fact, she started to pretend that climbing the couch was some sort of training exercise. If climbing a couch was possible then so was climbing a mountain like those in Mistral that she heard about.
Okay, maybe not. She could still imagine it at least.
Finally Ruby managed to make it to the top. She was exhausted and wanted to rest, but seeing Yang nearby reminded her of what she had to do. No way can she rest now, she had to get her attention. At least she had to climb her side and not her legs.
