This choice: ...Darnell family (As in Nick, one of David's closest friends). • Go Back...Chapter #7...Darnell family (As in Nick, one of David'... by: Wassel "…Darnell family," he said. A name which you of course recognized immediately. As it was the surname of one of your little brother’s best friends.
This indeed proving to be the case. Kerry explaining that Nick, his big sister, Veronica, and their mom were the three people that had been inside the other car. Not knowing any of them all that well to be honest, but you had seen Nick hanging around with David often enough. Being a short, scrawny looking kid with close cropped blonde hair and slightly buggy eyes. Getting the distinct impression from the way you'd caught him ogling, not only your mom and little sister, but pretty much any girl in his immediate vicinity, that he was a dirty little perv. Putting even your own best friend, Randall to shame. While you vaguely remembered his older sister from when you were a freshmen and she was a senior. Having been one of the 'stoner' kids, and apparently still was. Her face covered in various piercings. Her long, every changing hair hidden beneath a dark beanie, while her body was similarly clothed in baggy t-shirts, tanks and jeans. Giving little indication of what exactly she was packing underneath. Not that she'd at all been your type. There having been way hotter and sexier looking seniors to drool over. Veronica instead going very much under the radar (Randall being convinced that she was a lesbian), and you hadn't actually seen her in the intervening three years. Having no idea what she looked like now.
Still, despite not being in anyway close, you were glad that they were all okay. Even Mrs. Darnell, who you'd never met. Not wishing harm to fall on anyone. Especially not someone who was as close to your little brother as Nick was. Imagining that he'd be pretty distraught if he had been seriously hurt. And you didn't want that to happen either. Letting out a sigh of relief then that they were indeed okay.
This causing Kerry to ask, "So you do know them?"
Responding, "Kinda, yeah. Nick is friends with my brother. Comes around the house sometimes."
"...Oh. Oh really?" The balding doctor sounding almost worried now. As if this wasn't what he'd been hoping for.
Which of course you found weird. Wondering what exactly that reaction was about as he let out a nervous chuckle, and then continued. "Well isn't that... Isn't that something? Who'd have thought it?" Turning to look at Saunders, who still said nothing, but looked more than a little suspicious himself. Before Kerry hastily changed the subject. Reiterating that, "Well they're... They're all perfectly fine, as I said. Just a few scrapes, bumps and bruises. Nothing to worry about at all."
Which again, you were relieved about, but that wasn't really your most pertinent concern right now. Asking instead, "So, uhm... Can I like see MY family now or what?"
To which he responded, "Of course. They’re all very anxious to see you.”
And you them. Being much happier that they had made it out of the crash unharmed than you were the Darnells. Who, to be honest, could worry about themselves.
