"No, honey," his mother said. "We have to get home."
"Mommy, but I can't go outside like this. I'm naked." the boy said using his hands to refer to his face. "I don't even have any foundation on."
"I said NO."
"I'm not going looking like this," the boy said indignantly.
Normally at this point, the mother would give her son a hard smack on his behind like she did when he was four. But the mother wasn't heartless. She saw his point. The boy had wet himself and now he was going to go outside without a hint of makeup. She wouldn't want to go into public without her make up either. "Oh, OK."
The boy took his mother's lipstick and applied it. Then he needed some foundation. The woman didn't have any but she did have some blush. He made due with that. Finally the boy took his mother's eyeshadow palette and blended the colors to make his eyes look good. Soon the boy was ready and the two left the restroom. The boy held onto his mother's hand as they left towards the car. The boys other hand was hanging loosely from his wrist and his stride was graceful and effortless, even though he still wasn't wearing any shoes.
