Yes; he chooses Charmander

As the alarm clock rings Ash is awake already. Due to his excitement he slept not well this night. So, he got up much earlier as usual.
After having a short breakfast, Ash collects his things and heads to the laboratory of professor Oak. The old professor is surprised due to Ash´s early arrival. "Oh good morning Ash. I haven´t expected you to be the first one" he says as invitation.

Since the professor already prepared the three starters, Ash can choose his first pokemon now also. There is no need to wait for the other newbies. Due to the rules the first trainer arriving is the first one who is allowed to chooes a pokemon also.

So, professor Oak guides Ash insside the laboratory. There are waiting three pokemon inside a small room: The plant-pokemon Bulbasur, the fire-pokemon Charmander and the water-pokemon Squirtle. Since he read about the three starters before, Ash knows exactly which pokemon he wants to choose as partner. He kneels down in front of charmander and asks the small fire-pokemon "Would you like to be my partner Charmander?". Charmander lets out a sound of pleassure and touches Ash´s hand with one of his small claws.

That´s how it is decided: Ash´s first pokemon will be charmander.
