-A story route requested by another user-
One heeled shoe clicking idly against the polished floor, forensic investigator Ema Skye spent her several seconds waiting for the elevator glancing around at random, a mixture of thoughts swirling in her mind.
Today was a busy work day for her. She'd barely gotten into the precinct before the desk sergeant directed her to the captain's office. There, the precinct's captain had explained a recent development in a case that required her to make a trip over to the Prosecutors' Office. Within a minute, she was back out the door, returning to her car. The trip over was uneventful, but she had a lot to think about in the day to come by now.
~DING~
Ema straightened up and entered the elevator, finding it empty. Her hand moved toward the panel of buttons, but paused.
"Hmm..."
After a moment, she remembered which floor she needed and tapped one finger to the corresponding button. The doors closed, and she dug her hand into her shoulder bag. She produced a bag of plain chocolate Snackoos, picking out a few and popping them into her mouth as the elevator shuddered into motion. The sound of her chewing filling the small space, she passed one floor, two, three, four, five...
-THUD-
Ema blinked, glancing upward. She'd heard a rather unusual noise from somewhere above her.
-THUD-
-THUD-
Glancing to and fro in confusion, Ema waited for the elevator to reach its destination. Fortunately the sound was unrelated to the elevator itself, which arrived without issue. The moment that the doors opened, however, Ema froze. Her mouth dropped open.
Before her, three bizarre figures occupied much of the space in the hall just outside the elevator. Prosecutors Edgeworth, Gavin, and Blackquill were approaching, making a hasty route for the stairs adjacent to the elevator's location.
Normally, this wouldn't have been too strange, but the three prosecutors were all roughly twice the size they should have been, which was a detail Ema couldn't help but notice.
"Wh-what the-...!?" she stammered breathlessly.
Moving ahead of the group, Klavier noticed her. Somehow, in spite of his bizarre situation, he managed a grin fairly close to his normal expression when around Ema.
"Pardon the rush, Fraulein...!" he said, awkwardly making his way to the stairs. "We can catch up later, ja?"
With that, Klavier entered the stairwell, followed by both Blackquill and Edgeworth, neither of whom spared a word.
Landing with a gentle thump, Ema's bag of Snackoos fell to the floor. She stared, mouth still slightly agape.
(Wh-what in the hell was that...?)
The elevator doors began to close again, and Ema's eyes widened. She hastily rushed out the door, looking into the stairwell. She only just had time to see the trio of enlarged prosecutors vanishing from view down the winding flight.
Forgetting all about her other reasons for being here, -- and forgetting about the elevator behind her as well -- Ema followed them in haste.
"Make a path, you lot!" Blackquill barked, close behind Klavier as the trio entered the ground floor lobby. They were headed straight for the building's exit.
A shriek sounded from the front desk. The small handful of people in the room had definitely noticed their arrival.
They were still getting bigger. The three prosecutors rushed for the doors, their heads not far from the ceiling.
"You two first-!" Edgeworth instructed his two subordinates. They had a slight lead over him in the rate of their growth, and needed to be the first out if they were all going to get clear of the building.
Not wasting any time, Klavier led the group out. He crouched, turning his upper body sideways and pushing a hand against the floor. In one move, he was outside.
Blackquill followed. Being the tallest of the three naturally, he was dangerously close to becoming too large to fit. His unruly mane of black hair nearly snagged on the doorway as he escaped next.
Edgeworth followed them, feeling quite unsure now that he would fit. He lowered himself to the ground, trying to roughly emulate Klavier's method.
"Ngh-...!"
He collided uncomfortably with the doorway, only managing to force his shoulders and head out immediately.
Behind him, Ema jumped the last three stairs, having thrown away her heeled shoes partway through the trip. They weren't going to be a help when she needed to move quickly, even if she liked them for style.
"Holy sh-..."
She froze in stunned disbelief again. Mr. Edgeworth was about halfway out the door, apparently struggling. She caught sight of the slightly older woman at the front desk quaking on the spot with confusion and panic.
"Hey!" she called out, gesturing. "The other exit -- follow me!"
Fortunately, the woman got the message, abandoning her place at the desk. There were two or three other people in the lobby as well, and they followed Ema to the side exit in haste.
"Just get his other arm and shut your mouth." Blackquill snapped. He and Klavier were safely out of the building, but Edgeworth was stuck. Moving into position, he grabbed a hold on Edgeworth's right arm while Klavier took his left.
"Alright, push through now!"
A terrible sound of crumbling followed. Edgeworth pushed his way out of the building, but took out a sizeable chunk of the front wall as he did so. Klavier visibly flinched, watching the wall break apart as Edgeworth got free.
The trio stood up. They were drawing quite a lot of notice from the people around them. Some were staring in abject confusion, while others could be heard reacting with panic.
Edgeworth straightened up. He and his two subordinates were unbelievably large by now, and still appeared to be growing larger. He glanced around at their surroundings and made a decision.
