Everyone likes to have their own remote. Here, they can enter shows or bring characters out.

A writer can even impose limitations on the remote, like in order to enter a show, they must select a character to possess. It is up to the writer.

Just remember that the focus of the story is kisses from time to time. That could even be another limitation. The remote could be powered by its user giving or receiving kisses for its functions.
