Chapter #6

A Little Lorenz

    by: Giantessvg Author IconMail Icon
(Takes place in Part 1 of the plot, chapter: indeterminate)

Lorenz was beside himself with a smug smile as he made his way from the Monastery's front gates towards his bedroom, white envelope in hand. Lately he'd found many of the females he'd attempted to make conversation with were avoiding him- or at least it seemed that way to him. Now, certainly that could not be possible, as he had done nothing to give them any reason to do so in his knowledge. But still he could not shake the feeling that they were all keeping their distance- this was, as ever, most assuredly, Lorenz's anxiety over his duties as a noble speaking of course. And what better to prove this than the letter in his hand!

Just prior he had been enjoying a relaxing day, surveying the lances on sale near the gate when the Gatekeeper approached him, paper in hand.

"Greetings! You're Sir Lorenz, isn't that right?" He questioned, his usual chipper voice cutting the silence of Lorenz's perusing.

"Hm?" The noble turned to meet the sudden outburst of the Gatekeeper. "Yes, that is I."

"Great! See, I was just asked by someone to deliver this to you!" He pumped his fist chest level as if to gesticulate his joy at seeing this task to completion. "I would have just delivered it to your room, but I do have a Gate to watch after all!"

"Fortunate that I am here then, no?" Lorenz laughed haughtily.

"That it is!"

The armor clad guard handed the envelope over. Lorenz inspected the paper, scrutinizing it for details such as the sigil of his house, Crest, or Leicester Alliance. He had not been expecting any mail from home, however it would not surprise him if his father required something of him on short notice. He noted no such markings and assured himself that this was a personal letter, and not business.

"If I may, do you know who the sender is?" Lorenz asked inquisitively.

The Gatekeeper's smile dripped a little as his eyes widened, looking a tad nervous. "Sorry, I had forgotten to ask. All I know is that it was a woman with-"

"Oh!" Lorenz gasped, his mouth open with shock. it had been at least a week since he'd talked to any women. "No need to describe them, certainly they wished to keep their admirations secret for the moment. Wouldn't do to toy with a lady's heart now!"

In truth, even were that not the case he chose not to hear about this potential suitor- it would not do for him to grow sentimental over a possible commoner. He had the future of House Gloucester to consider after all! He could only allow himself to fraternize with those of the noblest stock as it were. individuals who would befit the role of a leader of the commonfolk.

"Oh, well, in that case I suppose my work here is done! Have a nice day Sir Lorenz!" The Gatekeeper saluted and was off with a pep in his step.

"What a jovial fellow." Lorenz commented before making an exit himself, heading off towards his quarters to read what was likely a love confession without delay.

Which leads us to now.

He briskly entered his room, swinging the door closed behind him as he swiveled into a chair at his desk. His fingers, though shaking a tad, deftly found themselves between the adhered opening. he pulled, opening the letter with minimal rips to the envelope.

What insanity, believing I was being avoided. You really had yourself going there Gloucester! Lorenz chuckled happily at the realization of what he already knew to be true. He was at the peak of the mountain that was desirable men! This is however a potential problem... with as many girls who refuse to meet his gaze as there were- just how many letters would be filling his room within the next month? To go even further, just how many hearts would he have to break!? it wasn't easy being so loved, especially by such shy suitors.

He sighed with a grin, before excitedly flipping open the letter- the contents of which caught him of guard immediately.

~Dear Lorenz~

It has come to my attention, over numerous of your attempts to flirt with me that you are a horrible person. Were it just me, I would likely leave things at this letter- or even ignore my grievances with you entirely. But it is not. The entire female student body is at risk of your pitiable attempts at courtship, Your incessant pickup lines and "you're ravishing's" have drained the morale of even going to the cafeteria. I do hope you are pleased with yourself! For what happens next is the consequences of your own actions- never let yourself forget that. Perhaps you'll find someone who'll care for you in the future, and not see you for the slimy bug that you are. But I sincerely doubt it. Congrats on your promotion from piece of shit to bug, by the way!

P.S. This note is enchanted- just having opened this envelope: you sealed your fate Congrats~

P.S.S. You REALLY need to look in a mirror, that hairdo is horrendous. Enough to turn me away WITHOUT having spoke to you.

"... Signed one of the hundreds of anonymous girls you've tried to fu- WHAT IS THIS CHEEK?!" Lorenz finished reading aloud with a shout. He could not believe the indignity one would have to possess, THE AUDACITY, to imply that he had anything but the common good at heart with his attempts to find a spouse. And his hair... well, maybe they had a poi- no, wait, his father LOVED his hair. This was just slander!

He threw the letter to the floor in a tizzy of rage. "What POPPYCOCK, me? A BUG!? and what's this empty threat of an enchantment? I am LORENZ HELLMAN GLOUC-" His enraged ramblings were cut short as he suddenly fell violently ill, falling back and leaning over his desk.

at first it was just a migraine, but in an instant his stomach rolled over itself. Pain pouring into his every pore as though a quadrillion needles were being pierced into his skin. His eyes became waterfalls as he clutched his chest before closing his eyelids while grunting at the intense and sharp pain coursing all throughout his body. until at last it subsided.

Curiously enough, without his notice, it seemed as though he'd fallen into a prone position. He lay there in silence for a moment, relieved that he was not either dead or to be subjected to that torture any longer. Eventually he allowed the light to filter into his pupils once more... but what he saw, he did not know how to process.

His room, as one would expect, but also... not. It was undeniably the room he just stood in not a minute ago, letter on the floor and all. But it was larger. MUCH larger. He looked around with raised eyebrows- a river of confusion rushing through his mind. the first thing he noticed was that he had seemingly shrunken down onto his desktop likely due to how he was leaning on it during his episode. The second was that beside him lay the quill he often wrote to his father with- compared to him it was ever about double maybe triple his height, essentially letting him know that he was no larger than 1.5 inches tall. Two at most. and thirdly, the hardest thing not to notice was the sound of knocking and a familiar voice coming from his bedroom door.

"Lorenz? Are you alright in there? I heard shouting..." they said before knocking once more.

It took a minute to fully register what was going on, given how soon after his shrinking this was, but he replied as best he could. Yelling as loud as possible he cried "PLEASE, COME IN AND HELP ME!"

"Lorenz? You are in there... right?" They asked again, clearly not hearing him as they slowly opened the door. The person who walked in was...
